Discoverer of the planet Uranus, appointed royal astronomer by King George III, moved from Bath to Windsor to fulfil royal duties. Builder of large reflecting telescopes, died Windsor. Awarded the Royal Guelphic Order - often styled, incorrectly, Sir William Herschel
